Ingredients
For the French Toast:
• 12 Hawaiian rolls (or slider buns)
• 4 large eggs
• 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional)
For Topping:
• Butter, for cooking
• Maple syrup, for serving
• Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
• Fresh fruit (like strawberries, blueberries, or bananas) for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Egg Mixture
1. Whisk Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar (if using) until well combined.
Step 2: Prepare the Hawaiian Rolls
1. Slice the Rolls: Carefully slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, keeping them connected if possible (like a slider).
2. Soak the Rolls: Dip each half of the rolls into the egg mixture, allowing them to soak for a few seconds to absorb the mixture. Ensure they are well-coated but not overly soggy.
Step 3: Cook the French Toast
1. Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or griddle, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
2. Cook the Rolls: Place the soaked Hawaiian rolls cut-side down in the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Flip and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden.
3. Repeat: Add more butter as needed and repeat the process for the remaining rolls.
Step 4: Serve
1. Plate the French Toast: Serve the Hawaiian Roll French Toast warm on plates.
2. Add Toppings: Drizzle with maple syrup, dust with powdered sugar, and top with fresh fruit if desired.
