Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
Step 2: Make the Donut Batter
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, vanilla extract, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the mashed strawberries gently.
Step 3: Fill the Donut Pan
- Fill the Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
Step 4: Bake the Donuts
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 5: Make the Strawberry Glaze
- Combine Glaze Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, pureed strawberries, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or powdered sugar as needed.
Step 6: Glaze the Donuts
- Glaze the Donuts: Once the donuts are completely cool, dip the tops into the strawberry glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Place back on the wire rack.
Step 7: Serve
- Enjoy: Serve the donuts immediately or store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
