Soft Christmas Peppermints Recipe

  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Red and green food coloring (optional)
  • Granulated sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Mixture

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sifted powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, and salt.
  • Stir until the mixture is well combined and forms a dough-like consistency.

Step 2: Color the Mixture (Optional)

  • If you want to create colored peppermint candies, divide the mixture into two or three portions. Add a few drops of food coloring to each portion and knead until the color is evenly distributed.

Step 3: Shape the Candies

  • Lightly dust your work surface with granulated sugar to prevent sticking.
  • Take a portion of the mixture and roll it into small balls or shape it into small disks, about 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 4: Chill the Candies

  • Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and chill for 1-2 hours, or until the candies are firm.

Step 5: Serve

  • Once chilled, you can dust the candies with additional granulated sugar to prevent sticking.
  • Keep the soft Christmas peppermints in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
