  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving, optional)

 


Instructions

 

Step 1: Cook the Orzo

 

 

  • Boil Orzo: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the orzo according to package instructions until al dente (about 8–10 minutes). Drain and set aside.

 

 

 

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

 

 

  • Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  • Sauté Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for about 2–3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

 

 

 

Step 3: Make the Lemon Garlic Sauce

 

 

  • Add Garlic: In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add Broth and Lemon: Pour in the chicken broth, lemon juice, and lemon zest. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for 2–3 minutes to slightly reduce.

 

 

 

Step 4: Combine and Serve

 

 

  • Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet along with the drained orzo. Toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
  • Garnish: Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
