Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 1 cup fresh strawberries (hulled and sliced)
- 1/4 cup sugar (divided)
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cream cheese (softened)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Optional: Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Prepare the Strawberry Filling
- In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat and set aside.
Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture
- In another bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, remaining sugar (2 tablespoons), and lemon juice until smooth and creamy.
Step 4: Assemble the Danish
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Arrange the triangles on the prepared baking sheet, overlapping the edges slightly to form a rectangle.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the center of the dough.
- Spoon the strawberry filling over the cream cheese layer.
Step 5: Bake
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a border. Brush the edges with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
- Allow the Danish to cool slightly on the baking sheet.
- If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving. Slice and enjoy warm.
