Ingredients
For the Meat Sauce:
• 1 pound ground beef
• 4 slices bacon, chopped
• 1 small onion, finely chopped
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce
• 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
• Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Cheese Mixture:
• 15 ounces ricotta cheese
• 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
• 1 large egg
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• Salt and pepper, to taste
For Assembly:
• 9 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
• 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
• Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Meat Sauce
• Cook Bacon: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
• Brown Beef: In the same skillet, add the ground beef and onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
• Add Garlic and Sauces: Stir in the minced garlic, tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
• Mix Cheese Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna
• Layer Ingredients: Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle half of the cooked bacon over the cheese mixture. Add another layer of meat sauce. Repeat the layers (noodles, cheese mixture, bacon, and meat sauce). Top with the remaining noodles and the last of the meat sauce.
• Add Cheddar Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Step 4: Bake the Lasagna
• Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
• Uncover and Finish: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Step 5: Serve
• Cool and Garnish: Let the lasagna cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
