  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

For the Oreo Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed Oreo cookies (about 810 cookies)

For Decoration:

  • Whole Oreo cookies
  • Chocolate ganache (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Cake

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 2: Make the Oreo Frosting

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and crushed Oreo cookies until evenly distributed.

Step 3: Assemble the Cake

  1. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of Oreo frosting on top.
  2. Place the second cake layer on top and spread frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
  3. Decorate the top with whole Oreo cookies and drizzle with chocolate ganache if desired.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Slice the cake into wedges and serve. Enjoy.
