Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Cake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth; the batter will be thin.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Oreo Frosting
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
- Gradually add the powdered sugar and heavy cream, mixing until smooth and fluffy.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and crushed Oreo cookies until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Assemble the Cake
- Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of Oreo frosting on top.
- Place the second cake layer on top and spread frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
- Decorate the top with whole Oreo cookies and drizzle with chocolate ganache if desired.
Step 4: Serve
