- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cups water or milk (or a combination of both)
- 1 ripe banana (sliced)
- 2 tablespoons almond butter
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- Pinch of salt
- Chopped nuts or seeds (optional, for topping)
- Fresh fruit (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Cook the Oats
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water or milk to a boil.
- Stir in the rolled oats and a pinch of salt.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft and have absorbed most of the liquid.
Add Flavorings
- Remove the oats from heat.
- Stir in the almond butter, honey or maple syrup (if using), and cinnamon until well combined.
Serve
- Spoon the oatmeal into bowls and top with sliced banana.
- Add chopped nuts or seeds and any additional fresh fruit if desired.
