Instructions
Step 1: Mix the Ingredients
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a microwave-safe mug, mix together the almond flour, protein powder, cocoa powder (if using), baking powder, and sweetener until well combined.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Add the egg, milk, applesauce, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Stir until you have a smooth batter. If desired, fold in a few chocolate chips.
Step 2: Microwave the Cake
- Microwave: Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute. Check for doneness; if the center is still wet, continue to microwave in 10–15 second intervals until fully cooked. The cake should be set but moist.
Step 3: Serve
- Cool Slightly: Allow the mug cake to cool for a minute or two before enjoying.
- Optional Toppings: Top with a dollop of yogurt, whipped cream, or additional chocolate chips if desired.
