Ingredients
• 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
• 1 cup mini marshmallows (plus extra for topping)
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 10 ounces marshmallows (regular size)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• Optional: chocolate chips or sprinkles for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Mixture
• In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the regular marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
• Stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder until fully combined and smooth. Add the vanilla extract and salt.
Step 2: Combine with Cereal
• Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the Rice Krispies cereal and mini marshmallows until well coated.
• Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Pour the mixture into the dish and press it down evenly with a spatula or your hands (lightly greased to prevent sticking).
Step 3: Set and Garnish
• Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
• Before they are completely set, sprinkle extra mini marshmallows on top and gently press them into the surface.
• If desired, drizzle melted chocolate or sprinkle chocolate chips or festive sprinkles over the top for added decoration.
Step 4: Cut and Serve
• Once set, cut into squares or rectangles.
• Serve as a fun and delicious snack!
