For the Meatballs
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
For the Honey Garlic Sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or low-sodium soy sauce)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon ginger (grated)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water to create a slurry)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Step 2: Make the Meatballs
- In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 3: Bake the Meatballs
- Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until they are cooked through and golden brown.
Step 4: Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Add the cornstarch slurry to the sauce, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
Step 5: Coat the Meatballs
- Once the meatballs are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl and pour the honey garlic sauce over them. Toss gently to coat the meatballs evenly.
Step 6: Serve
- Serve the honey garlic turkey meatballs warm, garnished with additional chopped parsley or sesame seeds if desired. They can be served on their own, over rice, or with vegetables.
