Heavenly Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries (drained and chopped)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)

 


Instructions

Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Prepare the Cookie Dough

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Add Chocolate Chips and Cherries

  1. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, chopped maraschino cherries, and nuts if using, until evenly distributed.

Bake the Cookies

  1. Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.

Cool and Serve

  1. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes.
  2. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
