Hawaiian Hot Dog Recipe

  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

For the Hot Dogs:
• 4 hot dog sausages (beef, pork, or chicken)
• 4 hot dog buns

For the Toppings:
• 1 cup fresh pineapple, diced (or grilled pineapple slices)
• 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
• 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
• 1/2 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
• 1/4 cup mayonnaise (optional)
• 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
• Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Toppings
1. Mix Slaw: In a bowl, combine the shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix with mayonnaise (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.
2. Prepare Pineapple and Peppers: Dice the fresh pineapple and red bell pepper, and slice the green onions.

Step 2: Cook the Hot Dogs
1. Grill or Cook: Preheat your grill or stovetop grill pan over medium heat. Grill the hot dogs for about 5–7 minutes, turning occasionally until heated through and slightly charred. You can also boil or pan-fry them if you prefer.
2. Warm the Buns: During the last few minutes of cooking, place the hot dog buns on the grill to warm them up.

Step 3: Assemble the Hot Dogs
1. Place Hot Dogs in Buns: Once cooked, place each hot dog in a bun.
2. Add Toppings: Top each hot dog with diced pineapple, red bell pepper, green onions, and a generous drizzle of teriyaki sauce.
3. Add Slaw: Finish with a spoonful of the prepared slaw on top.

Step 4: Serve
1. Enjoy: Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your Hawaiian Hot Dogs!
