Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup milk
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Biscuit Mixture
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder (if using).
- Add Cheese and Ham: Stir in the shredded cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed.
Step 3: Combine Wet Ingredients
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter and milk. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.
Step 4: Bake the Biscuits
- Prepare Baking Dish: Pour about 1/4 cup of melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Add Biscuit Batter: Spoon the biscuit batter into the baking dish over the melted butter. The batter will float on top of the butter.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
Step 5: Serve
- Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
- Enjoy: Cut into squares and serve warm. Enjoy your Ham and Cheese Butter Swim Biscuits as a delightful snack or side dish.
