  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans (drained, or about 4 cups fresh or frozen green beans, blanched)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (divided)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: Prepare the Casserole Mixture

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  2. Gently fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions. If using, add the shredded cheddar cheese and mix well.

Step 3: Assemble the Casserole

  1. Pour the green bean mixture into a greased 1.5-quart baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Step 4: Bake

  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.

Step 5: Add Topping and Finish

  1. After 25 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions on top.
  2. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Serve warm as a delicious side dish.
