- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) green beans (drained, or about 4 cups fresh or frozen green beans, blanched)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or homemade)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 1/2 cups crispy fried onions (divided)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Casserole Mixture
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
- Gently fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions. If using, add the shredded cheddar cheese and mix well.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
- Pour the green bean mixture into a greased 1.5-quart baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Step 4: Bake
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes.
Step 5: Add Topping and Finish
- After 25 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of crispy fried onions on top.
- Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
Step 6: Serve
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm as a delicious side dish.
