Garlic Butter Turkey Meatballs with Lemon Pasta Recipe

  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

For the Meatballs:
• 1 lb (450g) ground turkey
• 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
• 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
• 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (or 2 tablespoons dried parsley)
• 1 large egg
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• Salt and pepper to taste

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
• Juice and zest of 1 lemon
• Salt and pepper to taste

For the Pasta:
• 8 oz (225g) spaghetti or your choice of pasta
• 1/4 cup reserved pasta water
• Additional grated Parmesan cheese for serving
• Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Meatballs
• Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
• In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
• Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 2: Bake the Meatballs
• Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until cooked through and golden brown.

Step 3: Cook the Pasta
• While the meatballs are baking, cook the pasta according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water.
• Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining.

Step 4: Make the Garlic Butter Sauce
• In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
• Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
• Stir in the lemon juice and zest, and season with salt and pepper.

Step 5: Combine Pasta and Meatballs
• Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the garlic butter sauce, tossing to coat.
• If the pasta seems dry, add a bit of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
• Gently add the baked turkey meatballs to the pasta, tossing to combine.

Step 6: Serve
• Serve warm, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley if desired.
