Ingredients
• 1 pound ground chicken
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 small onion, chopped
• 1 bell pepper, chopped (any color)
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
• 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
• 2 tablespoons ketchup
• 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• 4 hamburger buns (or slider buns)
• Optional toppings: Sliced pickles, chopped green onions, or shredded cheese
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Chicken
• Heat Oil: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil.
• Sauté Vegetables: Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
Step 2: Add Chicken and Seasoning
• Brown Chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
• Season: Stir in the Cajun seasoning, tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
Step 3: Simmer the Mixture
• Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Step 4: Assemble the Sloppy Joes
• Toast Buns (Optional): If desired, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a toaster or on a skillet.
• Fill Buns: Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Add any optional toppings if desired.
Step 5: Serve
• Top and Enjoy: Place the top half of the bun on each sandwich and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes!
