  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

 


Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2: Cream the Butter and Sugars

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until creamy and well combined.

Step 3: Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Step 4: Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and white chocolate chips (if using).

Step 6: Scoop the Cookies

  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7: Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. They will continue to firm up as they cool.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Step 8: Serve
