Ingredients
Scale
For the Banana Filling:
- 4 ripe bananas (sliced)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (cubed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Cobbler Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Banana Filling
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and stir until melted and bubbly.
- Stir in the sliced bananas, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. Cook for 2–3 minutes, allowing the bananas to caramelize slightly. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Prepare the Cobbler Topping
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until just combined. Do not overmix; the batter should be slightly lumpy.
Step 4: Assemble the Cobbler
- Pour the banana mixture into a greased 9×9-inch baking dish or a similar-sized oven-safe dish.
- Spoon the cobbler topping over the bananas, spreading it evenly.
Step 5: Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the cobbler comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
- Allow the cobbler to cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
