- 2 ripe bananas (mashed)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix Wet Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas. Add the melted butter, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
Step 3: Mix Dry Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk together the baking soda, salt, and flour until evenly mixed.
Step 4: Combine Mixtures
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
Step 5: Bake
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, slice into bars and serve. Enjoy as a snack or dessert!
