- Leafy lettuce (such as romaine or iceberg)
- 1 ripe tomato, sliced

Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Fried Green Tomatoes
- Soak Tomatoes: Place the sliced green tomatoes in a bowl and cover them with buttermilk. Let them soak for about 15 minutes.
- Prepare Breading: In a shallow dish, combine the cornmeal, flour, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- Bread the Tomatoes: Remove the tomatoes from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each slice in the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
Step 2: Fry the Tomatoes
- Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium-high heat.
- Fry Tomatoes: Carefully add the breaded green tomatoes to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 3: Cook the Bacon
- Cook Bacon: In the same skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 4: Assemble the Sandwich
- Toast Bread: Toast the slices of bread until golden brown.
- Layer Ingredients: Spread mayonnaise on one side of each slice of bread. On the bottom slice, layer leafy lettuce, fried green tomatoes, crispy bacon, and slices of ripe tomato. Top with another slice of bread.
Step 5: Serve
- Slice and Enjoy: Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately, enjoying the crunch of the fried green tomatoes with the classic flavors of a BLT.
