Cinnamon Roll French Toast Roll-Ups Recipe

Ingredients

For the Roll-Ups:
• 6 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your choice)
• 2 large eggs
• 1/4 cup milk (whole or 2%)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 2 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon butter (for cooking)

For the Cinnamon Filling:
• 1/4 cup brown sugar
• 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
• 2 tablespoons butter, softened

For the Cream Cheese Glaze (optional):
• 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 1–2 tablespoons milk
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cinnamon Filling
1. Mix Filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Add the softened butter and mix until it forms a paste.

Step 2: Prepare the Roll-Ups
1. Flatten the Bread: Using a rolling pin, flatten each slice of bread to about 1/4 inch thick.
2. Spread Filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon filling onto each slice of flattened bread, leaving a small border around the edges.
3. Roll Up: Starting from one end, carefully roll each slice of bread tightly into a roll.

Step 3: Prepare the Egg Mixture
1. Whisk Eggs: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

Step 4: Cook the Roll-Ups
1. Heat the Pan: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Dip and Cook: Dip each roll-up into the egg mixture, ensuring it’s coated on all sides. Place the roll-ups seam-side down into the skillet. Cook for about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
3. Repeat: Continue cooking in batches, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

Step 5: Prepare the Cream Cheese Glaze (optional)
1. Mix Glaze: In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until you achieve a smooth glaze.

Step 6: Serve
1. Plate the Roll-Ups: Serve the warm roll-ups on a plate.
2. Drizzle with Glaze: Drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the top, if using, and enjoy!
