Ingredients
For the Truffles:
- 1 package (15.25 oz) Oreo cookies
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
For the Coating:
- 12 oz green candy melts or white chocolate (colored with green food coloring)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for thinning)
- Edible decorations (such as sprinkles, mini candies, or star-shaped candies for the top)
Instructions
Step 1: Crush the Oreos
In a food processor, crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, you can place the cookies in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
Step 2: Make the Truffle Mixture
In a large bowl, mix the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese and vanilla extract (if using) until well combined. The mixture should be thick and moldable.
Step 3: Shape the Truffles
Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a cone shape to resemble a Christmas tree. Place the shaped truffles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Once all the truffles are shaped, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to firm up.
Step 4: Prepare the Coating
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts or white chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. If using white chocolate, add a tablespoon of coconut oil to help thin the chocolate for easier dipping.
Step 5: Coat the Truffles
Remove the chilled truffles from the refrigerator. Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, making sure to coat it completely. Let any excess chocolate drip off.
Place the coated truffles back on the parchment paper. While the chocolate is still wet, add edible decorations, such as sprinkles or mini candies, to create ornaments on the Christmas tree. Top with a star-shaped candy if desired.
Step 6: Set and Serve
Allow the chocolate coating to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
Once set, serve the Christmas Tree Oreo Truffles on a festive platter or package them as gifts.
