For the Pizza Dough
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
- 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Toppings
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked spinach (or fresh baby spinach)
- 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Dough
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
Step 3: Assemble the Pizza
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness (about 12 inches for a large pizza).
- Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by dollops of ricotta cheese.
- Arrange the cooked spinach, diced red and green bell peppers, and sliced black olives (if using) over the cheese. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
Step 4: Bake the Pizza
- Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and enjoy!
