For the Pizza Dough

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Toppings

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked spinach (or fresh baby spinach)
  • 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)

 


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pizza Dough

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 2: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

Step 3: Assemble the Pizza

  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness (about 12 inches for a large pizza).
  2. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce, followed by dollops of ricotta cheese.
  4. Arrange the cooked spinach, diced red and green bell peppers, and sliced black olives (if using) over the cheese. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Step 4: Bake the Pizza

  1. Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and enjoy!
