Ingredients
- 4 cups pretzels (small twists or rods)
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips (milk, dark, or semi-sweet)
- 1/2 cup holiday sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Arrange Pretzels: Spread the pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
Melt Butter and Sugar: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
Add Vanilla and Salt: Once boiling, continue to cook for an additional 3–4 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
Pour Toffee Over Pretzels: Immediately pour the toffee mixture over the pretzels, making sure to coat them evenly. Use a spatula to spread the toffee if needed.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden brown.
Melt Chocolate: Remove the pretzels from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top. Let them sit for a few minutes to soften.
Spread Chocolate: Once softened, use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the pretzels.
Add Sprinkles: If desired, sprinkle holiday sprinkles over the chocolate for a festive touch.
Cool Completely: Allow the pretzels to cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, break them apart into pieces.
Store: Store the butter toffee pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
