Chocolate Croissant Breakfast Bake Recipe

  • Author: I
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large croissants (preferably day-old, cut into chunks)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
  • Fresh berries (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Step 2: Prepare the Croissants

  1. Tear or cut the croissants into bite-sized pieces and place them in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Make the Custard Mixture

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissant pieces, pressing down gently to ensure all pieces are soaked.

Step 4: Add Chocolate

  1. Evenly sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the croissant mixture, making sure they are distributed throughout.

Step 5: Bake

  1. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.

Step 6: Serve

  1. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm with fresh berries on the side.
