Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Dough
- Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
- Fold in Chocolate Chips: Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
Step 3: Bake the Cookies
- Prepare Baking Sheets: Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Scoop Dough: Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie to allow for spreading.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set.
Step 4: Cool and Serve
- Cool on Baking Sheets: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
