For the Crust
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold water (or as needed)
For the Topping
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
- Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Season: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, pepper, and chopped pickles (if using). Remove from heat and mix in the shredded cheddar cheese.
Step 3: Prepare the Crust
- Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add Water: Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough comes together. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie plate.
- Fit into Pie Plate: Place the rolled-out dough in the pie plate, pressing it into the bottom and sides. Trim any excess dough.
Step 4: Assemble the Pie
- Add Filling: Spoon the beef and cheese mixture into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.
- Prepare Topping: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the beef filling.
Step 5: Bake the Pie
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the egg topping is set and lightly golden.
- Cool: Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

- Enjoy: Serve warm, garnished with additional cheese or your favorite burger toppings.
