Ingredients
For the Brownie Layer:
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
For the Cheesecake Layer:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed and drained)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper for easy removal.
Step 2: Make the Brownie Layer
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.
Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then stir in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Step 3: Make the Cheesecake Layer
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gently fold in the blackberries, being careful not to break them too much.
Step 4: Assemble the Brownies
Spoon the cheesecake mixture over the brownie layer, spreading it evenly.
Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the cheesecake into the brownie layer for a marbled effect (optional).
Step 5: Bake
Place the baking pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the cheesecake is set and the edges are lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Step 6: Serve
Once cooled, cut into squares and serve. Enjoy the delicious combination of brownie and cheesecake flavors!
