Ingredients
• 1 pound flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced against the grain
• 2 cups broccoli florets
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
• 3 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (or 1 teaspoon ground ginger)
• 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
• 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
• 1 tablespoon cornstarch
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Sauce
• Mix Sauce Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, brown sugar, and beef broth until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Beef
• Heat Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
• Stir-Fry Beef: Add the sliced beef to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Broccoli
• Add More Oil: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil.
• Stir-Fry Broccoli: Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
• Add Garlic and Ginger: Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 4: Combine and Finish
• Return Beef to Skillet: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the broccoli.
• Add Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli. Stir well to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened and everything is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5: Serve
• Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked rice or noodles. Enjoy your delicious meal!
