- 4 flour tortillas (8-inch)
- 2 cups apples (peeled, cored, and thinly sliced; use a mix of sweet and tart apples)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of your choice)
- 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
- Optional: Maple syrup (for serving), powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Apple Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Add the sliced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized.
- Remove from heat.
Step 2: Assemble the Quesadillas
- On one half of each tortilla, layer a portion of the cooked apples and a sprinkle of shredded cheese.
- Fold the other half of the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape.
Step 3: Cook the Quesadillas
- In the same skillet, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter over medium heat.
- Place the folded quesadillas in the skillet.
- Cook for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and the cheese has melted. You may need to cook them in batches.
Step 4: Serve
- Remove from the skillet and let cool slightly.
- Slice each quesadilla into wedges.
- Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
