  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked sausage, pepperoni, or veggies (like spinach or mushrooms)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

 


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

 

  1. Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, cooked sausage (or other fillings), Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

 

 

Step 2: Roll Out the Dough

 

  1. Prepare Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle or circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Cut into Pieces: Cut the dough into equal-sized circles (about 6–8 inches in diameter) using a pizza cutter or a round cutter.

 

 

Step 3: Fill the Calzones

 

  1. Add Filling: Place a generous spoonful of the cheese mixture on one half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edge.
  2. Fold and Seal: Fold the other half of the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal, and use a fork to crimp the edges for extra security.

 

 

Step 4: Prepare for Air Frying

 

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brush with Egg Wash: Brush the tops of the calzones with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

 

 

Step 5: Air Fry the Calzones

 

  1. Arrange in Air Fryer: Place the calzones in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching (you may need to do this in batches).
  2. Cook: Air fry for 10–15 minutes, or until the calzones are golden brown and cooked through. Check for doneness and adjust cooking time if necessary.

  1. Cool Slightly: Allow the calzones to cool for a few minutes before serving.
